Herrick Gallery is proud to present new work by Lindsay Sekulowicz with an exhibition about museums, study and memory.

Watercolour studies from the National Herbarium of Ethiopia and Kew Gardens form the first pages of a catalogue of medicinal plants. Ink drawings from natural history collections are shown alongside votive objects and beautifully etched terracotta hand-coiled pots with drawing in pigments from historical anatomical textbooks.

In her practice, Sekulowicz incorporate histories of trade, botany and zoology.  The consideration for material and form is fundamental to all of the works. Primarily, she utilises very basic and instinctive techniques, and time and study is an important part of the making process.

Sekulowicz has worked with entomologists from the Museum of Natural History of Florence, Museo ‘LA SPECOLA’, travelling with them on two expeditions to jungles in Malaysia and Ecuador.

Most recently she completed a residency at the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee, where her research was focused on neuroscientific studies of space and memory.

Lindsay Sekulowicz lives and works in London.
