FOUNDLAND

Foundland is run by Sarah and Arthur who describe their business as ‘an upmarket general store, with an international goods aisle and smutty top-shelf throw in for good measure.’ Having a background in retail, running the Monocle webshop and sourcing for major gallery shops in London, they have the inside intel on where to find the best gifts across the globe. They offer a wealth of products all of which fall into the hard-to-find, new release, limited edition categories. From traditional Japanese brooms, to brassy Italian stationary to wooden spoons hand carved in an English forest – they’ve got it.

GROVE & CO

Grove & Co was founded in Bristol by friends Tristan and Ben, who wanted to develop timeless, stylish menswear that offered an alternative to mass market premium brands. Their goal was simple: to make the best shirts you’ll ever wear and the last you’ll ever own. It’s a family affair with Tristan’s sister, Joss, as their pattern maker, and they’re proud to partner with UK based fabric merchants, suppliers and manufacturers for all their products.

KARINA BANKS

Karina Banks is a London-born jewellery designer with a background in contemporary dance, leading to the influence of the human form that runs throughout her collections. She developed a jewellery brand with the intention of offering more than just pretty things to adorn the body with. Her series of bold and fun sculptures celebrate the beauty of women in both form and strength, creating a wearable statement to support a fair future for women around the world.

All Karina Banks jewellery is designed and hand-crafted in her North London studio from the finest quality sterling silver and 18ct gold plate.

LUCY SHERSTON

Lucy Sherston graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2013 and is a freelance designer and illustrator based in Brighton. She has a specific interest in form and how different shapes fit together, and creates playful print compositions that evoke a sense of celebration through colour, shape and hand-made processes.

MARA VERA

Mara Vera are a textile brand creating beautiful scarves, pillows and napkins with social responsibility and environmental sustainability at the centre of all they do. They collaborate with master artisans in Gujarat and Rajasthan and work with locally sourced materials and traditional block printing techniques to deliver high quality hand-made products. 5% of all their profits go towards the development of local artisan communities with which they work, and all their dyes are eco-friendly, AZO free.

ORIGIN

Origin was founded by Alice and Tom, who spend their time between the UK and Africa, working with humanitarian projects in Mali, Ethiopia and The Gambia. Their clothing is sustainably sourced and made from 100% organic cotton, and the signature patch pockets are hand woven and hand dyed by local tribes in Sub Saharan Africa, where all profits are reinvested.

Origin’s projects are co-created and run by local communities and include:

  • Providing remote sanitation in the Simien Mountains (Ethiopia)
  • Launching a seamstress school to provide training opportunities for women in Bamako (Mali)
  • Building an HIV specialist clinic in The Gambia
