The £9.99 Collection
At a time when our environment is under constant threat and the future wellbeing of the planet is uncertain, it is essential for businesses to incorporate sustainability into the fabric of everything they do. Businesses must start taking responsibility for their raw materials in the same way they do for their products.
With its starting point firmly rooted in this belief, the £9.99 Collection was developed primarily to solve Lozi’s in-house waste issues, ensuring their leftover materials never ended up in landfill. Lozi’s design practice only uses wood products from FSC accredited sources and, by taking it upon ourselves to turn our own waste into viable products, we have ensured the traceability of each piece of material we use – from the forest it was grown in, to the home it will end up in.
By creating pieces that look made from virgin plywood and cleverly disguising the material’s origins, this collection has become a platform from which to open discussions on sustainability with clients and other businesses alike. Customers are challenged to re-assess their own lifestyles and to make a habit of enquiring about the background of the products they buy.
With this collection, we hope to encourage other businesses to follow suit, taking a closer look at their own production methods and building sustainability and waste reduction into each step of their manufacturing process.

Sustainable hair Salon Buller and Rice
When tactility, leisure, and human connection are valued above all, does a commercial space need to feel exclusive and unattainable to remain luxurious?
Working against pre-conceived notions of high-end retail and their clinical, burnished and unwelcoming aesthetic, Lozi approached this interior as if it were a residential home rather than a commercial unit. Inspired by casual evenings in their own living room, our makers set about bringing that same sense of comfort and relaxation to this hair salon, stripping away the glassy ostentatiousness expected from high-end retail.
Warm, welcoming and elegant, this salon centers their client’s experience around human interaction and leisurely education, allowing their customers to truly relax in an unintimidating space they feel completely welcome in. This salon creates a new friendlier form of luxury; a welcoming and upscale environment that maintains a sense of distinction without being exclusionary.
The contrast of high tech recycled materials with swathes of dark wood make this a stand out project, mixing two types of materials seemingly at odds to create an unusual and modern approach to technologically driven sustainability. This combination makes cutting edge technology approachable, proving that sustainable interior design needn’t look either shabby chic or clinically minimal. Bringing a welcoming and warm aesthetic to cutting edge materials helps the salon continue the sustainability conversation at the core of their ethos and appeals to the ever-growing number of people wishing to take responsibility for their personal lifestyle’s effects on the environment, yet reticent to compromise on their quality of life.
