During London Design Festival the display boxes in Ace Hotel London’s window will be given over to recent London design graduates.
Although tiny (just 70cm x 40cm x 50cm each) the spaces face onto Shoreditch High Street, one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares during London Design Festival. They offer these young graduates an opportunity to showcase themselves and their work in a significant location during this important time. The 70 x 40 x 50 project was conceived as a humble response to the ever-changing landscape of design fairs. Emerging designers need platforms on which to promote themselves yet these are frequently difficult to find. Giving the window boxes to recent graduates is intended as a gesture of encouragement to the city’s next generation of designers.
The designers have been selected by Modern Design Review, chosen from the hundreds of students graduating in 2017 from product design and craft courses in London, and will be included in the program of the parent exhibition Ready Made Go 3.
