Founded in 2016, Laperruque develops artisanal, minimal and timeless leather goods with a focus on functionality and refined details.
For London Craft Week, Laperruque’s founders share the secrets of their high-end finishings: raw edge burnishing, traditional hand-stitching (also called ‘couture sellier’) and gold film hot-stamping. Guests can practise these techniques on an unfinished cardholder and take home a unique piece of craftsmanship.
Working in ‘perruque’ or ‘perruquer’ is an old French expression used in workshops to describe products made using tools provided by an employer, that are in fact intended for the craftsman or their relatives. Taking inspiration from these unofficial creations, Laperruque products are all handmade in their workshop in Malmö, Sweden. They let the beauty of exceptional materials and the craftsman’s gestures speak for themselves. The leathers come from the best French suppliers, used by the most prestigious luxury houses, and are chosen to age beautifully with a personalised patina over the time.
Ace Hotel London will also be hosting a fragrance workshop with Timothy Han and a candle and soap-making workshop with Studio Furthermore. Please see acehotel.com for more details.
