As part of Shoreditch Design Triangle, lifestyle brand TOAST has invited textile artist Ekta Kaul to create an exhibition inspired by the concept ‘Flux & Flow’, highlighting our capacity for change.
Through ‘Story Maps’, Ekta Kaul seeks to tell the personal stories of cities in a state of flux. She explores places, history and belonging through stitch using age-old techniques of embroidery, hand dyeing and block printing. She draws inspiration from aerial photography, vintage maps and architecture. Her creative voice is an assimilation of her Indian heritage and British training.
‘London Story Maps’ capture an image of contemporary London, a city that bears witness to 8 million of stories, evolving every day as the stories unfold. It will be on display at TOAST Shoreditch until September 30th.
