Explore and express creatively through the medium of clay.
During this 2 hour workshop, you will gain a rudimentary knowledge of ceramic processes and how to achieve a completed ceramic object. Three different techniques of hand-building will be demonstrated and you will choose 1 of these techniques to build a small size pot which will later be fired and glazed by the tutor for you to collect.
No experience is required.
The workshop will be hosted by Melanie Rumball an East London based ceramicist. Born and raised in France from a family of creatives and makers, with a passion for nature, animals and all craftsmanship in general. After completing several courses at Morley College, Melanie joined The Kiln Rooms as a permanent member in 2015. She throws but particularly loves hand building as she is drawn to more organic pieces. She draws her inspiration from nature, naive drawings and various artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Cocteau, Brancusi and Emily Young.
Melanie’s ceramics have featured in the Rachel Entwistle store and Shoreditch Design Triangle sees the launch of their ceramics collaboration inspired by the concept Dreamer.
