At The Very Least

At The Very Least

By KamCeKam- 17th September - 22nd September 2019

Kam Ce Kam is a furniture and interiors brand born from a passion for innovative design conceived through traditional methods of manufacturing.  From the material to the making, the story is one of passion and integrity, coupled with a genuine desire to revive the heritage of Indian craft; in a considered, conscious and contemporary manner.

Kam Ce Kam translates to ‘At the very least’ in Hindi and this has become the brand’s philosophy: ‘At the very least’ we encourage people to acquaint themselves with crafts rooted in the history of traditional culture by creating designs that relate to their every-day living. It is our responsibility to uplift craftspeople in the development of consciously manufactured pieces, pairing it with honest materials and cutting-edge design.

Each piece in this initial collection is inspired by a component of traditional craft whilst telling the story of the maker and the materials used. Beginning with the skilled history behind the artisan, the designs incorporate age-old techniques such as cane weaving and stone carving. It continues onto the materials where timber, stone, leather and cane are organically fused with seat pads filled with coir and table-tops created from marble offcuts.

A conscious drive to utilise natural and sustainably sourced materials lies at the heart of Kam Ce Kam’s production. Visually, the collection responds to pieces seen in the colonial era, adapted to suit today’s contemporary lifestyle. It is a perfect medley of the cultures of India and Britain, being brought to life in the 21st century.

Exuding an esteemed quality, the collection finds beauty in the simplicity of form and the strong emphasis on the purity of materiality. Showcasing craft and techniques that have evolved over time, the Kam Ce Kam design ethos represents a new style of craft for today’s generation. Constantly striving for timeless beauty and quality that is born out of a desire for tradition and innovation, these pieces hold within them stories dating back generations and are designed and made to last for generations to come.

For the launch event Kam Ce Kam is collaborating with Indian Gin brand ‘Greater Than’.

Join us through the week and for our Tuesday Late launch event, for an evening of design paired with crafted cocktails to celebrate the collection.

In 2015, the world was going through a “Gin-aissance” and yet, two bar owners in Delhi, India who waited expectantly for the tsunami of Gin brands were left high and dry.

The country where Gin & Tonic was invented and where exotic gin botanicals are found in most home kitchens was still in the dark ages of Gin. If they wanted Gin, they were going to have to make it themselves.

They stepped out from behind the bar, got themselves a copper pot still and experimented with every spice, herb and fruit they could find. They found a lot, they distilled a lot, they tasted a lot and they fell down a lot. It took them more than two years but they finally found a recipe they loved enough to not just want to serve at their own bar but to take to the rest of the country and the world.

“Greater Than” or “>” is their London Dry Gin made in India using some of the best botanicals from India and around the world. Made in a 1,000 Liter Copper Pot Still source from Hungary, it is India’s first Craft Gin.
