Maestro

By Lee Broom- 15th September - 20th September 2020

Lee Broom presents Maestro, the debut of a new chair and an engaging virtual presentation for LDF 2020. For the first time, Lee Broom’s artistry for designing groundbreaking exhibitions will be transferred into a captivating film highlighting the chair’s aesthetic values.

The Maestro chair features an original silhouette inspired by Lee Broom’s long-held passion for mid-century design and, perhaps more significantly, his great love of classical music.

The Lee Broom showroom in Shoreditch will unveil an engaging window installation that will be creatively aligned with the film.

Reminiscent of the coils and wraps of musical instruments, the contours of the Maestro chair have been created by three continuous hand-bent, hand-polished and plated tubes, which form a seamless, circular-like embrace around the chair’s upholstered seat and back. The first tube becomes the front leg; the second gently sweeps underneath the upholstered spherical seat and the third forms the back leg. A subtle, but intricate twist of the tubes, which at once creates beauty and symmetry, but also its fundamental purpose, enabling the chair’s fixings to be entirely disguised.

Available in three finishes: a soft satin brass, a highly reflective mirrored chrome and a matte black, the chair can be upholstered in velvet or wool in a spectrum of colours.
