TOAST has invited textile artist Christina Hesford to create a woven installation at TOAST Shoreditch during this year’s London Design Festival.
Christina Hesford is an artist-maker who uses textile processes, such as weaving and knotting to make art objects and wall-based artworks. Her work challenges notions of beauty by using the aesthetics of repair, and symbols of imperfection such as knots. From the traditional to the unorthodox, she uses a wide variety of materials including silk, wool and linen, paper, tree-fibres, decommissioned fire hoses, and polythene sheeting.
As part of the Shoreditch Design Triangle, on Wednesday 18th September there will be a drop in session between 5:00pm and 8:30pm, where you will be able to trial weaving techniques and learn more about weaving with Christina. Drops ins are welcome but to priority will be given to those that register to attend using the eventbrite link below.
