This September Studio Tucktite is collaborating with The Illustrators’ Fair to offer a £400 bursary for an illustrator or artist book maker to create a new piece of work in book form. The intention is to be inspired by the eclectic collection of over 1,000 reference books in the Tucktite library to create a new acquisition to be added to the collection.
Task:
To treat this opportunity as a mini residency. The person chosen for this task will be expected to visit the Tucktite Library at least once, though two days of on-site research are recommended.
The finished product should directly connect to research material in the Tucktite Library, but interpretation of this material can be as literal or abstract as need be.
A suggested theme is “a sustainable future”. This ties in with other content the Studio Tucktite is generating this year.
On-site research should be conducted by the end of the first weekend of London Design Festival 17-18 September.
Ideally, the end product should be completed by 25 September.
The £400 includes all expenditure, material costs and travel as well as time. It is understood that this as well as the time constraint will influence the physical nature of the final product.
The final product will be added to the Tucktite Library collection. As this is a library the final product should be a book or elude to being one.
In addition to the £400 bursary the intention is to promote the project, process and final product, through Studio Tucktite and @illustratorsfair social media feeds over the duration of London Design Festival 17-25 September.
