Gareth Neal

Gareth Neal is a progressive and collaborative East London design & craft studio. Our work harmoniously unites traditional and digital techniques to create uniquely crafted pieces.

Gareth Neal established his practice in 2006 and has since become internationally recognised at the forefront of British Furniture Design. He is known as a progressive thinker combining the latest high-end digital fabrication with traditional craft techniques. His conceptually rigorous, environmentally conscious and beautifully crafted work has fostered collaborations with the likes of Zaha Hadid Architects and Aesop. Gareth’s work is housed in the world’s leading museum of art and design, the Victoria and Albert Museum.

“I think of myself as a hands-on designer who is fascinated by process, whether that be with traditional tools or the latest computer-controlled router. This, combined with my fascination for historical techniques and aesthetics produces ideas with a rich narrative and visual references for the audience to reflect upon. For me, good practice emanates from a depth of knowledge of my medium, and my ability to reconsider it for a contemporary audience.”
