Studio Sahil is a product and design-consulting studio based in London.
‘Sahil’ means coast / shore in Turkish, where our studio draws inspiration from natural phenomena, patterns and formations. Our aim for the studio is to design long-lasting, meaningful and sustainable products made by the designer herself or with local artisans.
Our process involves looking into intangible cultural heritage, craft practices and methods to develop new materials. The main collection is hand blown glassware infused with sand from different locations, which creates unique patterns and textures. Other items in our collection range from jewellery, wooden serve boards, scarves with matching cotton bandanas for dogs and desert sand infused tiles for home interiors.
Notable exhibitions, which Studio Sahil has participated in include: Decorex with the Designbuzz (2021), NY NOW with Kollektif (2021), Lexus Design Award at Milan Design Week (2019), Experiments & Prototypes at Aram Gallery (2017), New Craft at Triennale (2016), Royal College of Art Graduate Show (2017), Tent London for London Design Festival (2015), and at her ‘Artisans in Istanbul’ solo show in Istanbul (2015).
